Tibetan prayer flags Om Mani Padme Hum

Wonderfully colorful, they flutter everywhere in Nepal, playfully on roofs, temples, bridges, or sacred springs in the wind.
Yet, they hold a deep meaning for the people living there. They are always meant to remind of the Divine. The mantras and images on the flags are meant to bring protection and blessings to the entire universe and all life. Problems or sufferings are handed over to the wind for transformation by hanging a prayer flag, so that life can flow again. The colorful flags symbolically stand for the five elements. Over time, prayer flags disintegrate due to the exposure to sun, wind, and rain. This is also desired because in this way, the blessing can enter the five elements.
