Wheel of the Year Festivals
The Celts are known to us for celebrating eight major festivals.
4 solar and 4 lunar festivals.
The solar festivals were each the equinoxes and the shortest day or the longest day. The lunar festivals are always midway between the solar festivals. Their festivals were intense and full of joy for life, but also marked by deep respect for the changing conditions of nature.
It nourishes our soul and strengthens our connection to nature and the cosmos, when we manage to attune ourselves again to these natural processes.
With admiration and respect to honor that which supports and surrounds us every day. In today's times with electric light and central heating; with the hustle and bustle that our daily life brings, there is a great danger that we are no longer able to feel the rhythm of nature, the power of the sun and the moon, and the magic of a change in the sun or moon. Everything runs uniformly, without highs and lows, without the wonderful magic that surrounds us.
