Wheel of the Year Festivals
From the Celts, we are aware of eight major festivals.
4 solar and 4 lunar festivals.
The solar festivals were each the equinoxes and the shortest day or the longest day. The lunar festivals are always timed in the middle of the solar festivals. Their festivals were intense and full of joie de vivre, but also marked by deep respect for the changing conditions of nature.
It nourishes our soul and strengthens our connection to nature and the cosmos when we manage to tune in again to these natural cycles.
With consideration and respect, honour what supports and surrounds us daily. In today's time with electric light and central heating; with the rush that our daily life brings, there is a great danger that we no longer feel the rhythm of nature, the power of the sun and moon, and the magic of a change of sun or moon. Everything runs uniformly, without highs and lows, without the wonderful enchantment that surrounds us.
