Shiva Nataraj

Shiva, whose name means "kind" or "gracious", embodies many contrasts: He is benevolent and malevolent, meditative and ecstatic, a god of everything and yet fond of specific earthly places like Mount Kailash and the city of Benares. Shiva is worshipped in various forms, as a great Yogi (Mahayogi) who practices asceticism or dedicates himself to meditation, as the great Lord of the world, or as the Lord of Dance, Nataraja, who dances the ignorance under his feet and destroys everything that does not build on truth and love. The current great purification period of our planet is thus symbolized by Shiva Nataraja.
